In junior high school when my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up my first response was that I wanted to draw and take pictures. From that moment on I have surrounded myself with art and have been drawn to visual representations and expressions. I learned the basics of photography from my grandfather. It was an amazing moment that as a child I learned that I could turn my love affair with pictures into a rewarding and fulfilling career. Over the years my love affair with the visual has become a mature and enduring passion through my education and continuing education in these fields.
I have a BFA from The University of Texas at Arlington. I was fortunate enough to have two mentors in wedding and portrait photography while going to school. Through hands on experience working in their studio and under their mentorship I learned the technical aspects of shooting from lighting to digital work flow. In addition, I found that the only thing more rewarding than taking and processing images, was working with the people featured in my work. For example, after shooting a wedding and processing the images, it was always a highlight to then present the work to the customers and help them compile these images into something that would be truly memorable for them. For many couples, I was also able to hone my creative side by not just taking photographs and turning them into art not just snap shots.
My background in art drives my desire to create images that have excellent composition and still allow the interplay of color and environment to portray a specific moment in all of its lustre. My contemporary photojournalistic and lifestyle portraiture styles help me to create images that tell the story of your wedding day, sporting event, or family gathering through images captured in real time and with the richness of the moments you most remember.
